Please join City Administration for a Public Information Meeting
Earlier this year, the Novi City Council unanimously passed a motion directing City staff to draft an ordinance which would move Novi to a single trash hauler system. The new ordinance includes: The requirement that all refuse and solid waste be collected and removed by a single waste hauler, with whom the City is responsible to contract. This requirement applies to residential premises only, which include single family homes, duplexes, and certain condominium developments to be designated by the City Manager where refuse is collected in a manner similar to single family homes. There will be two Public Information Meetings held in August to share information regarding the new trash collection initiative and to answer questions. The dates are: Tuesday, August 18 from 6:30-8pm at Novi Civic Center and Tuesday, August 25 from 6:30-8pm at Hickory Woods Elementary. For more information, visit cityofnovi.org. NOVI, Mich., June 25, 2015 – Fireworks are a common form of celebration around Independence Day yet require careful handling to prevent tragedy. The Novi Police Department reminds residents of the dates consumer fireworks may legally be used and the City of Novi Fire Department urges residents to use great caution with fireworks during this year’s celebrations.
The City of Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department and the MSU Extension Tollgate Education Farm are excited to announce their partnership to host two farmers markets per week at two convenient locations for Novi residents.
The Novi All Seasons Market (formerly the Novi Farmers Market) will take place on Saturdays, May 2-October 24 between 9 am and 2 pm at the Novi Civic Center Campus located at 45175 Ten Mile Road. The mid-week market at the MSU Extension Tollgate Education Farm will begin Wednesday, June 17 and run through October 21 from 4 to 7 pm. The farm is located at 28115 Meadowbrook Road. “The combined efforts of the City of Novi and the MSU Extension Tollgate Education Farm are providing greater opportunities for citizens to take part in a farmers market experience, which is unique and community-based, “said RoseAna Twitchell, Novi All Seasons Market Manager. “Hosting twice-a-week markets will maximize the benefits of Michigan’s growing season.” “Consumers visit farmers markets for a myriad of reasons; from wanting the freshest possible produce, to having a relationship with the farmer that grew the food. Shopping at local farmers market reduces environmental impact, cost, and shortens the food chain; patrons can literally purchase food at its source,” added Alan Jaros, Education Director at the MSU Tollgate Farm. For more information regarding the Novi All Seasons Market, vendor or sponsor opportunities contact RoseAna Twitchell, Market Manager at 248-347-0588, [email protected], or via facebook.com/NoviFarmersMarket Dear WLCSD Parents:
